AWS launches three CloudFront sites in China, reducing latency by 31%

April 23, Beijing News, Amazon’s Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) announced today that it is operating in China with three cloud data operations in cooperation with Ningxia Xiyun Data Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as Xiyun Data). The Amazon CloudFront sites are located in Beijing, Shanghai and Ningxia Zhongwei. So far, there are 169 Amazon CloudFront service nodes worldwide.

AWS users can create Amazon CloudFront China distributions in their China regional consoles and distribute content to end users. According to the official AWS news release, the service can reduce the delay of 31% of customer service in China.

It is understood that AWS will add more Amazon CloudFront sites in China next year.

Amazon CloudFront is a fast CDN (Content Distribution Network) service that supports usage scenarios including video distribution, e-commerce, mobile banking, software downloads, music downloads, and smooth delivery of frequently accessed images and object files.

It is understood that the three Amazon CloudFront sites are connected to each other through a dedicated private network and connected to the AWS China (Beijing) area operated by Halo New Network and the AWS China (Ningxia) area operated by Xiyun Data.

Rong Yongkang, AWS Global Vice President and Executive Director of Greater China, said, “We are very pleased to continue to expand our presence in China and bring more advanced cloud technologies to customers across the country. These Amazons are operated by Xiyun Data in China. The CloudFront site will further reduce latency and provide customers with the security they expect from the AWS cloud to deliver a better-integrated experience for end users.
